Mark Antony DeAngelis, of Mark Antony Custom Homes, is pictured in June during construction of the model his company built for the Parade Homes 2009 in Brittany Hills, in the town of Onondaga. The super-efficient windows were among the features that earned the home the "gold'' rating under the National Green Building Standard.

Syracuse, NY -- Two models in the Parade of Homes are the first in New York state to be certified under the National Green Building Standard.

The homes built by Mark Antony Custom Homes and Harrington Homes received "gold'' ratings, the second-highest of four possible ratings, said Michelle Desiderio of the National Association of Home Builders.

NAHB and the International Code Council developed the standard under which residential construction is judged on its sustainability and efficiency.

The 4,800-square-foot Mark Antony model has geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels, roof-mounted wind turbines, insulation and air sealing, and high-efficiency lights, windows and appliances.

The 3,650-square-foot Harrington model has solar and geothermal systems, low-VOC paint, cellulose insulation, recycled content carpeting and high-efficiency windows.

NAHB Green is an alternative to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes rating system.

The NAHB standard has four levels -- bronze, silver, gold and emerald, the highest rating.

The Parade of Homes is being held this year in the Brittany Hills subdivision in the town of Onondaga.

All eight homes in the show are Energy Star homes, said Mary Thompson, executive officer of show sponsor the Home Builders and Remodelers of Central New York.
